Encino Motorcars v. Navarro [Briefs] is on for oral argument at the US Supreme Court on January 17, 2018. The issue is whether service advisors at car dealerships are exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act's overtime-pay requirements.

The statute says the following are not entitled to overtime pay:
"any salesman, partsman, or mechanic primarily engaged in selling or servicing automobiles"
The employees argue that they are entitled to overtime because they don't personally sell cars or personally service cars.
The dealership argues that their service advisors don't get overtime because they are "salesman … primarily engaged in … servicing automobiles."
Look for a decision in the spring of 2018.
